royal oak parking permits & street parking:
Note that any specific issues regarding replacement parking for spaces normally provided through the City of Royal Oak or Park Rite, including street parking and parking structure permits, will be administered directly by the City of Royal Oak & Park Rite. However, the Festival’s provision of off-site parking & shuttle bus support detailed below is intended to support this relocation effort, and those parking passes will be distributed directly by the Festival Office.
private business parking:
If you own private parking spaces adjacent to your business, we will provide substitute parking for those spaces, based upon the actual number of physical spaces fully located on your property. The alternative parking passes we will provide will be as conveniently located as possible, and will align with Festival road closures that will prevent normal access to your spaces.
general parking for business owners & staff:
To lessen the burden on businesses within the Festival footprint, The City of Royal Oak and ABE have again arranged for substitute parking for businesses displaced from their normal parking options. This will consist of parking at Royal Oak High School, Royal Oak Middle School, or in other nearby locations. All alternative parking will be serviced by our event shuttles, or will be within reasonable walking distance of the site.
These passes are restricted to staff only, as no passes are available for patrons, customers, etc.
festival entry - business owner & employee pedestrian access:
Please note that pedestrian access to the ABE site is unrestricted throughout set up, and until paid entry begins at 5pm Friday. Access passes for business and staff are not required prior to 5pm Friday, and egress is unimpeded from the site for departures after that time.
For restaurants and clubs, note that the perimeter security protocols into the site will end at approximately 11:15pm Friday through Sunday, and 8:15pm on Monday. After those times, staff and patrons will have unrestricted access to the site.
During periods of paid entry, passes for entry by staff will be required for access to your business if the entrance is located within the secured site perimeter. These passes will be provided to those businesses with restricted access to their establishment - based up hours of operation and reasonable staffing levels.

late night parking & shuttle service:
The Festival will again work to alleviate issues related to parking for late night staff members. As in the past, we will provide a shuttle that will run late into the night and through early morning, from a pre-determined location. We need as much input as possible from impacted businesses, in order for our planning team to determine the best shuttle location/route - as well as the optimum shuttle hours of operation. Details on the late night transportation & parking will be communicated to the businesses directly affected, after we review the date from the questionnaire below.
re-stocking access pass:
These passes are only for overnight restocking for a business, and do not convey any parking rights - or access to the site during event hours. From Friday though Monday, access is limited to BEFORE 8:30am and AFTER 12:30am each night. If any business requires more than one pass, please contact ABE Management to discuss your business’ unique needs.
This access is intended for standard vehicles and 2-axle box trucks/vans. No semi’s or long wheelbase trucks will be allowed on the site due to narrow access and general safety considerations.
This restriction applies to any business with deliveries that require access through the secured perimeter - even if access to the business itself is unrestricted. By example, this would apply to businesses on Main Street that typically accommodate deliveries via the West Main Street alley.
Please describe expected deliveries during the dates above, including delivery vehicle type and frequency of deliveries as part of your pass request.
Special events:
If your business is hosting any private party, group, or other special event, we will work with you to provide the required access - if communicated to us well in advance, and providing the groups are both reasonable in numbers and consistent with your normal operations. For these special events, communication directly with the group in advance will be essential to providing your customers with relatively seamless access to your business - so immediate outreach to ABE management is essential.
