KIDS ZONE

This year’s event will feature award-winning artists and performers as well as exciting interactive educational activities that kids of all ages will enjoy. The Detroit News Kids Zone will feature the Detroit Institute of Arts Kids’ Stage with a variety of interactive, educational and fun performances throughout the weekend.

The Detroit Institute of Arts presents curated family entertainment on the DIA Kids Stage.  These special performances are the type of entertainment families can experience at the museum throughout the year.  Remember that admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts is free for all Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb residents. 

There will be additional performances throughout the weekend from Michigan Science Center. Explore various science topics using large scale demonstrations that are sure to wow curious minds of all ages. Experience the power of air pressure and learn how to defy gravity in this exciting group presentation!

FREE ARTS AND CRAFTS

This year, the entire family can enjoy FREE Arts & Crafts. In the Kids Zone at Arts, Beats, and Eats, kids will have the opportunity to make a variety of fun and engaging art projects!


The Michigan Science Center will be bringing out your kid’s inner scientist!

Explore the chilling effects of extreme cold in this frosty demonstration! Using liquid nitrogen (LN2), we'll showcase some 'cool' reactions and transformations as everyday materials are exposed to freezing temperatures.


FREE Moonwalks FROM Inflatable Playspaces

Sure to draw “oohs and aahs” and lots of giggles will be the Moonwalk presented by Inflatable Playspaces, a Royal Oak company. Moonwalks will be available for FREE this year thanks to the City of Royal Oak and Oakland County!

Moonwalks will be located at 7th & Washington!

Carnival

TJ Schmidt Carnival will be providing a kiddie carnival, and will have plenty of rides geared toward families (kids ages 3-13 and adults)located in the Sherman Lot in the north end of the festival.

Carnival tickets will be $1 each and rides will be between 3 and 6 tickets per ride.

Ride List and Ticket Amount for each ride coming soon!

The carnival will run between 11am-11pm Friday through Sunday and from 11am-9pm on Monday. Ticket booths close 1/2 hour before rides close.
